The pin set screws are set with Loctite® at the specific tension we recommend, and will generally never need an adjustment. Tightening the base pad screw is not recommended and may be difficult because the screw is set with Loctite®; trying to force the set screw to turn could result in stripping the screw. We do not warranty base pads for stripped heads on set screws or pins lost in result of tampering with the set screw.

This Taran Tactical Innovations PPQ base pad works on any full sized PPQ magazine. This TTI base pad will add 5 extra rounds to the magazine. This TTI base pad does add a little extra weight to the magazine which helps the empty mag drop free easier for faster reloads. This TTI PPQ base pad, just like all of our base pads, is designed to give you the edge over your adversaries. We use our patented push pin design to lock the base pad to the magazine, which makes for easy field stripping and cleaning your magazines between stages. Just push down the pin, slide the base pad on and push the pin up to lock the base pad onto the magazine. Our one piece design is great because there are no extra parts or tools needed to attach the base pad to your magazine. The base pad itself is machined out of billet aluminum and is hard anodized to ensure durable long lasting color. All machining and manufacturing is done in the USA.

Due to fit, I prefer the low profile Walther magwell (available on the pro version) that I was able to find on-line at 50% off retail price. The +5 Taran Tactical base plates fit perfectly with a nice tactile feel and "click" when changing magazines. With the high cost of ammunition, I have only shot around 300 rounds with this new setup, and, to date, these base plates add four rounds. That 5th round almost wants to fit, but I suspect that it will take a bit more of a break-in period with the new spring included with the +5 base plate. I loved that the base plates came in the mail from Taran Butler, a true legend in the professional shooting world.

Purchased a few different companies basepates and magazine extensions to try for new fit / feel with a Full Size PDP. Thought I'd try +5 to see widest chance for issues on fit due to the difference in PPQ/PDP Compact magazine geometry vs the 140mm FullSize PDP magazine. I could only get +1 from the PPQ's +5 plate but was pleased the plate fit at all. The Titanium Purple was a bit hotter than I was expecting but overall am very pleased just checking out the market. Unlike some other companies found on the web, Taran Tactical's baseplates / extensions are secured in place using a non- intrusive pin to lock in place pending on the magazine/model. NOT needing to drill/sand a new firearm just to add mass to the baseplate is VERY much appreciated. If I end up getting a Compact or any other supported models, you'll definitely be the first company I think of for aftermarket.

  • Reliable So Far. Fits 20 in 15 rd Mags. Some Minor DIY Needed

So far with my PDP Compact I’ve shot three full mags for each of the three extensions installed. 100% reliable, slide stays locked open when empty, no issues with mags not seating fully with full 20 rounds in and plus 1. Easy install but maybe a pinched fingertip in process. You can hear the spring shoot in place once you complete connection. Simple push pin fairly solid. One moved a fraction after 60 rounds as I took measurements with calipers but it would probably take at least 1000 rounds at that pace to move pin enough for mag to fall apart. Simple visual every so often is a good idea Only issue is loading. Between round 15 and 16 when loading the follower meets the slight edge protruding in from the Taran base. You must push new round in with power, even with the reloader assist you can feel that snag then the break. Rounds 17-20 go in fairly easy. If you install the base with no spring or follower and get light inside you can see the edge and can feel it using any tool that fits in. I may do some dremeling on one to see if that edge can be safely smoothed flush. Not a reliably issue but I’d rather not have my poly follower scraping tightly past the metal edge every time I load. OK price for quality base and included power spring. And the fact there is no “out of stock” notice is a nice change. PDP and PPQ M2 mags are hard to get now.
